Ok, so I don't have a design wall. I've seen posts for design wall Wednesday and I'm feeling left out of the loop. Hmm....I thought maybe design floor Friday, but since I'm (supposed to be) sewing along with Farm Girl Friday's that won't work. So the next best thing is "Toss It on the Floor Tuesday"
Anyways, I finally decided to cut into my Hello Luscious bundle of fat quarters. It was was one of half price deals. I really wanted it when it first came out but didn't have the money for it. So, when it was on sale, I grabbed it quickly. Of course, it sat in my closet for quite some time. I decided to finally jump on Lori Holt's Great Granny quilt train. It is such a fun block to make, not too much thinking. The best part is you cut the blocks to size after piecing it. You can't go wrong with that! The plan is to make 40 blocks. 36 for a bed quilt, one for a pillow and 3 for a tablerunner.
Here's the first half of them:
As you can see, my furry helpers happened to show up. Again. Thanks guys. At least one of them knows better. He doesn't looks so happy though. Silly kitty, I'm not going to take your chair.
Since I love hanging out on Instagram, I am posting a photo under the hashtag #tossitonthefloortuesday. Please join me if you have a design floor too!
I love this! So fun! I do have a "design wall": a piece of flannel tacked to the wall in my sewing room. Isn't the pretties but it does the trick (usually)! I too have furry friends who like to help!

I have a design floor too! And a design bed, a design couch... Lol! When I really want a design wall I hang batting with those skirt/pant hangers and then carefully hang the hangers on top of a door frame.

I have a design floor too! And a design floor cat, who likes to rearrange everything for me! I would love a design wall, but like so many other things it's on the "someday list"!
ReplyDeleteEven though I can't see the blocks up close, but they look lovely. I love design floor idea. lol
ReplyDeleteThe photos are a bit small, I'm going change those. I should have had a block or two up close also. Thank you :)
DeleteLOL, love Toss It on the Floor Tuesday! What is it about cats and quilts, mine always wants to be in the middle of what I'm doing. The dogs just lay on the couch or under my feet. We're in the same hive, so I'm dropping by to say hi! Glad to see you're doing the Farm Girl Vintage Sew Along. I got the book last week and did the Baking Day block to start, hoping to do the Sew Along tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI have a design wall, floor, sofa, bed, and countertop. Anything goes at my house! Love your "toss it on the floor Tuesday" idea. :)
